Lewis's Draft UPDATE

I intend to change my draft becuase I have spotted a few things that i would like to tweak. Firstly I noticed that the stars on my page were not really going to support a lot of text so after looking at a few magazines on my own I notice that they had circles and I thought this to be easier, so I have edited that. Also I want to add The chaucer logo in which I can incorporate the colours that I wanted to without damaging the rest of my colouhr scheme on my magazine as there is also the issue of my first Headline not being big enough to cover our article so I will make that bigger.

Leah's Draft

This magazine is aimed at year 11s that are interested at going into chaucer 6th form, this issue will tell the audience about what chaucer 6th form is like and what you will get out of it at the end of the courses and also the facilaties and coursed the school provides. inside the issue will provide what grades you need to get into 6th form, what the courses are about, photographs of the 6th form block and school and much more.
My front cover is easy eye catching idea providing a photo of a year 11 happy student withy their end of year results, on the result paper it has the grade A* written on it showing that they are happy because they have a good grade to be able to join the 6th form. The mast head is bold and big to attract attention. the slogan tells you strauight away what the whole issue is about joining the chaucer 6th form. at the bottom on the page there is a photo of a book saying 'INSIDE THE ISSUE' pointing to a bulletpointed section listed with the things that are inside the magazine. the name of the school is placed down the side of the page advertising that its a chaucer magazine. I have come across a mistake in my draft because of where the picture overlaps the mast head, you cant read the title 'post 16 news' very well as the head is covering 16 and part of news, there is no way of understanding that it says 16 is comes across as being 'is'. Also i think it would be a goof idea to add the chaucer logo to my design as it will make it more obvious that its a magazine about the chaucer school/6th form.

Lewis's Draft

For this draft, I wanted my design to be simple, but effective. I want the colours of this magazine to fit with the Chaucer colour scheme, because it shows its is in relation to Chaucer. I chose my draft to look like this because of all other magazines I have seen, I put them together to make a unique design of my own and link that back to the style of our school. I want tyhe Font to be 'Cambria' becuase it gives the impression of an article style of writing instead of Times New Roman. For example:
‘In this story… We will cover’
It is more spaced out and I could see that on a front page of our magazine and our contents page.
Leah and I both chose different stories but decided to incorparate them both into one magazie each but with a different version but trying to keep to our colour scheme. Our article is about persuading school leavers to join our 6th form and tips on upcoming exams as well as talking about new tech out or Tv shows to catch the readers eye.

Post 16 News

For this Preliminary task we plan to make a magazine front page and contents page that is aimed at Yr 11 students who are considering going into sixth form at Chaucer. We need to make sure that our aims and objectives are presented clearly so that it can fully attract the target audience, by also adding appropriate imagery of students and classrooms etc...
